But imho the choice of cab IR and amp sim are more important to get right first when it comes to using libraries and the overall sound.Includes everything you need to create complete rock & metal tracks in your DAW: heavy guitars for rhythm & lead, dozens of thunderous drum kits, and floor-shaking bass - tens of thousands of samples in total with stunning realism and tons of articulations to pick from. *) I'm not saying all electric guitars sound the same - I just spent over 1000$ on a used guitar because it sounded much better for my usecase. Good luck either way! I hope you'll soon find what you're after and enjoy the whole journey! It's possible you'll come to the same conclusion. Personally I ended up buying real guitars to get the sound I want, because I found libraries to be too limited. If you want to use libraries instead of learning to play guitar, one or more Shreddage 3 libraries are probably the way to go if you want to stay flexible.

Imho it would be rolling the dice when you buy a full collection outright on whether or not that was the purchase that you needed to make or not.Īsk yourself this, if you were to learn to play a real guitar, how many would you buy to get you started? I hope the answer is one, because it'll take some time to learn what you're actually looking for in a guitar. The benefit you get from having different guitar libraries that all follow the same sampling approach is rather small compared to other benefits you could buy for the same money *), and at your current point on your journey you very likely don't know what you really need for the sound that you want. If you like low-tuned stuff, I'd go for whichever of their libraries has the lowest sampled notes. If you like S3 stratus free, I'd buy one of their full guitar libraries and learn to use it properly and learn to dial in amp sims to get closer to the sounds you want.

If you don't have a full version of Kontakt, I'd probably buy that first before you go for a whole virtual guitar collection. Fortunately for me, from my experience on this forum, guys were always able to help me out even when I wrote a mess of a post If needed I can try rephrasing my question. Or does owning complete bundle give vastly more options and versatility when trying to get the desired sound out of a library (and thus make up for paying extra)? Possibly with external amp/effect plugins, which I will likely need to get along the way in any case. I am wondering whether Stratus and Jupiter can cover much of what, for example, Hydra and Serpent also offer.

Please excuse me for not being able to find a good way to phrase the question.

With Shreddage 3 bundle I get the complete series for less than double the price. With Rock Band bundle I will get guitars which should get me going and give me plenty to figure out and learn for quite some time to come. Having no experience with Shreddage 3, I would like to ask for your opinion on owning few of the libraries vs. It so happens that there are 2 great deals on Shreddage 3 bundles up right now: I am a beginner and have no experience using guitar libraries.īut I sure know my ideas for orchestral/metal songs will need one (or few?).Īfter some research I figured Shreddage 3 series should do the job for me. I've been looking for an electric guitar library.
